What a beautiful morning .... got a comfortable nights sleep without pain!
I had the epidural analgesic and steroid injection yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately I also had a cyst laying directly on the nerve root which was causing a large amount of the pain I have been experiencing. To try and get rid of the cyst he had to fill it with fluid until it burst the cyst. As he filled the cyst the nerve pain increased to that of excruciating, I have never felt anything like that in my life. Words can not explain the level of pain, it was way off the 1 - 10 chart. They kindly pumped me full of drugs which helped until the analgesic in the spine started to kick in. Took quite a while before I was able to gain any normalcy. After several hours I graduated to standing then walking. By the time we left to come home I was starting to feel much better. When we got home I was able to walk with an almost normal gait.
The care and concern from the doctor, nurses and other staff was wonderful. I couldn't have been in better hands. And of course, Al was with me every step of the way. Don't know how I would have made it through without the love, strength and humor from my husband. He is always there when I need him and I for him.
Woke this morning to a pain free morning. I am sore in places but no where near where I had been. I am going to try and take it easy the next few days, unfortunately that is hard for me. Now that I feel better I want to just jump on in and finish things I haven't been able to do. I do know better and my guard dogs are home to make sure I stay put.
To all, enjoy the weekend and life. God Bless, Kim

Getting Close
Well, the time is almost here for the Epidural Steroid injection. Tomorrow afternoon is coming up fast.
Physical therapy has definitely been a help but the pain down my leg continues although I know I am 2 inches taller from the traction. Had trouble getting my shorts on this morning but my husband was more than willing to help out! He is such a trooper ;-)
This is not how I had planned to spend the first part of my summer break but you get what life gives you and you roll with the punches (I just don't want to wind up like Jack & Jill!)
The frustrating part is I have to have surgery for "girl stuff" at the end of July. Well ... it looks like a good excuse for not cleaning ;-) At least I have a break next week to spend some healing time at the beach. It won't do much physically but it always helps my mind and soul. I always feel at peace when watching and listening to the waves.
God seems a little closer at those times.
Thanks to all who have offered their thoughts and prayers. God bless you <3

Glorious Rain!
Woke up to a rainy day and couldn't be happier! My vegetable garden is rising up (I am sure they are actually smiling!).
Started physical therapy this week and I am feeling better. Traction is a strange experience ... I expect to grow at least 2 more inches. Epidural steroid injection scheduled for the 16th. I am a bit nervous but hoping it will help with the pain. First epidural ever .... to chicken to have one when I had the boys (like natural child birth is less painful, what was I thinking?).
Still being lazy but trying to do small stuff. The monster dust and dog hair bunnies are threatening to take over the house .... maybe even the world! Run while you still can, I will be limping right behind you!

God Bless our Independance!
What a beautiful and sunny day we have to celebrate our Independence!! Good night for fireworks ;-)
My doctor visit on Thursday went well, my doctor is amazing as well as his staff. Felt right at home. Kathy K. stopping by was a plus!
A bit of good news .... hips are not that bad and the doc will re-read the MRI films. No hip replacement in my future right now which is wonderful. All x-rays are nomal .... yeaaaaaa.
The down side is the pain in my left hip and leg is related to my back ... nurse for 33 years .... go figure. L4 - L5 is angry with me right now with good reason. Been doing a little too much lifting but that's another story. Waiting now to get an appointment with a pain specialist who can do epidural steroids for relief. Been referred to a good doctor but getting an appointment is challenging. The guard dogs in the front office are a tough group so I have to wait, really shouldn't complain because that is their job. Woof!!
Trying to get used to moving slower is frustrating. I had many goals set for my summer break but I need to do a reality check to see what is necessary and what is not. I have found that it is absolutely necessary to read or listen to a book, water the garden (which I may say is doing very well this year!), brush Spat the Dog, spend time with my husband and sons, take time to talk to or spend time with my friends, have a picnic and get some rest.
As you may have noticed I have changed the name of my blog. I am not sure where my journey will lead me right now but I have faith that it will be okay. God is with me every step (maybe limp) of the way.
Enjoy the holiday weekend. God Bless, Kim
